As iOS indie app developers we've loved the whole development experience: the "Apple system" is really great from this point of view. We found it very difficult to get people to beta test our app before release. At marketing times after release, we faced the huge difficulty of getting enough reviews on the App Store in order to get a rating displayed. We refused to ask our friends/family to post biaised reviews.

Therefore, we decided to create ReviewForDev service in order to help those with the same dilmma, especially indie iOS developers. We see this service as a win/win for:

• iOS developers using ReviewForDev: Developers are given honest and detailed feedback to improve their apps before release (beta-testing) or after release. Besides, we noticed that most of the reviewers post their conclusions on the App Store as well as on our website.
• Reviewers using ReviewForDev: Reviewers can test new apps from the App Store for free, and make money by testing them. The best reviewers are also proposed to become beta-reviewers.
• Apple App Store (c) users: Because most of our reviewers write the conclusions of their reviews on the App Store, as well as on the website, we believe we participate in providing a better understanding to users about the apps before they purchase them.
• Redeem-now.com : with our service to purchase new gift codes (Apple only provides 50 promo codes per update), we supply the promo codes in the http://www.redeem-now.com format. We love their concept and think all developers should use this free tool to track promo code redemption.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The developers who would like feedback for their app send us a "request for review", which is used to obtain information about particular iDevices and target profiles they needs for the reviews. Once we have validated this request, all the matching reviewers are requested to apply to review the app. We select the best profiles and if we reach the requested number of reviewers, the developer can confirm and proceed to purchase.

Once we have validated the payment, each reviewer gets 10 days to submit her/his review.

• if the app is live on the app store: the reviewers must purchase the app (and we'll pay extra money to compensate exactly this cost),
• if the app is not released yet: the reviewer will download from our server the files to install the app on her/his iDevice (this is called Ad Hoc installation).

Each time a reviewer submits a review, we manually control it according to our review guidelines in order to ensure the best quality. If we believe it is acceptable, we pay the reviewer for this job.

We noticed that most of the reviewers actually post the conclusion of their review on iTunes as well as on our website, but we cannot guarantee it will always be the case, since we leave it up to the reviewer's decision.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR DEVELOPERS?

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, registering for, or utilizing the ReviewForDev platform, you explicitly agree to comply with and be legally bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all provisions within these terms, you must immediately cease use of our services.

Description of Service

ReviewForDev is an online marketplace connecting independent iOS application developers with beta testers and reviewers. The platform facilitates the organized distribution of mobile applications for testing and coordinates the collection of detailed, actionable feedback designed to improve software quality.

Developer Obligations

Developers using our platform are required to provide accurate application metadata, functional promotional codes, or secure Ad Hoc installation files as necessary for testing. Developers are financially responsible for prepaying all chosen review campaigns in full prior to initiation.

Reviewer Obligations

Registered reviewers agree to securely download assigned applications, test them comprehensively, and provide honest, unbiased, and detailed feedback within the strict 10-day limit. The use of automated scripts, copy-paste templates, or artificially biased feedback is strictly prohibited and monitored.

Payment Terms

Developers pay upfront for review packages based on the tier selected. Reviewers receive compensation only after their submitted review passes our manual Quality Assurance validation process. All payments are final, and fraudulent chargebacks will result in immediate account termination.

Review Quality Standards

Every review submitted through the ReviewForDev platform is subject to manual validation by our moderation team to ensure review guidelines are met. We require constructive criticism, clear communication, and specific usability examples within 10 days of assignment.

Prohibited Conduct

Users are strictly prohibited from engaging in activity that disrupts or manipulates the platform. This includes creating fraudulent tester accounts, attempting to bypass payment gateways, reverse-engineering platform architecture, or maliciously reviewing competitor applications.

Intellectual Property

Developers retain all intellectual property rights to their applications. By submitting feedback on the platform, reviewers grant developers a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, adapt, and implement any suggestions or concepts provided within the review.

Limitation of Liability

ReviewForDev operates as an independent service entity and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. We do not guarantee App Store approvals or specific ranking increases. In no event shall ReviewForDev be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Termination

ReviewForDev reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend or permanently terminate any user account without prior notice if we determine that a user has violated these Terms of Service or engaged in fraudulent behavior.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms of Service at any given time to reflect platform updates or legal requirements. Continued use of the platform following the posting of any changes constitutes your formal acceptance of those changes.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed and construed in accordance with standard international business laws, specifically tailored to digital service providers, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
